Eligibility

2023-2024 Plan Year

Most full-time Georgetown University students are eligible and required to enroll in the most comprehensive student injury and sickness plan offered. A charge for the coverage posts to eligible students’ accounts once per Academic Year. (Generally, initial Academic Year Eligibility is triggered in the Fall according to degree and and credit hour registration; a few students’ initial eligibility is triggered in the Spring.)  If they have other coverage that meets the University’s requirements, they may apply to waive the Premier Plan.  Home study courses and primarily online courses do not fulfill the eligibility requirements. Refer to the Premier Plan Certificate of Coverage for eligibility details.

Generally, students in a degree program are eligible if they maintain registration,

  • In resident thesis research,
  • In eight or more academic and billable credit hours (nine or more for Undergraduates), or
  • As a medical student.
