For all students, good health is essential to achieving educational goals. Because maintaining good health requires access to health care when you need it, Georgetown University requires most students, according to registration criteria, to have health insurance. Eligible students are charged for and required to purchase the Premier Plan unless they timely waive with other coverage that meets the University’s requirements. This requirement assures some relief of the burden of expensive health care and instills within the students the lifetime responsibility of obtaining quality health insurance.
Important Updates for August 2026
Please be assured that all Student Health Insurance enrollments and waivers continue to be processed timely. However, as our team navigates a recent, unexpected loss, we are currently experiencing significant delays in responding to emails and phone calls. We are actively working through all inquiries in order of priority. To help ease any concerns regarding these delays, please be aware that penalty fees for student health insurance balances will not be assessed until November. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
